What is a Speech Pathologist?

Speech Pathologists (also called Speech Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists) are specialists who can diagnose and treat communication disorders, including difficulties with speech (production of speech sounds), language (the words and sentences we use and understand), social or pragmatic skills (how to use language in social situations), fluency (stuttering) and voice problems. Speech pathologists can also work with people who have difficulties with chewing and/or swallowing.
